John J W McDonald

Peter McDonald, an Old Boy, has informed us of the passing of his father, John J W McDonald, aged 79, on the 30th August.

John was an OB, having attended at Berkeley Square in the 1940s.

Peter and his brothers, Duncan, Ian and Neil all attended the School in Brislington during the 70s and early 80s.

Condolences to the McDonald Family.

Bro. Sheehan

It is with much sadness that I report that Bro. Sheehan (aka Spike) passed away on 1st April 2012. His funeral is to be held on 16th April in Hales Barnes, Cheshire.

SBOB's Involved in the making of a TV Documentary.

Some of our OBs were involved with Testimony Films in the making of a TV Documentary about Grammar School Education - details are below. I understand that at least one OB, Vincent Calder, will appear during the programme, ‘Grammar School – A Secret History’.

Programme One will air on Thursday 5th January 2012 at 9pm on BBC4

Programme Two will air on Thursday 12th January 2012 at 9pm on BBC4

Bro. W. Gillespie

Very sad news received only today (3rd Aug 2011) of the death of Bro. Gillespie on 18th May in Wythenshaw, Manchester.

He was 76.

He taught at St Brendan's from late '50s to early 60's and then spent most of his career in Africa.

Reunion 2012

The next Reunion has been arranged for Wednesday 16th May (St. Brendan's Day) starting with a Reunion Mass at Sacred Heart Church, Grange Court Road, Henleaze, Bristol, at 11.30am followed by 'Refreshments' at the Eastfield Inn in nearby Henleaze Road from 12.30pm. All Old Boys who attended the College are welcomed. More details to follow nearer the time.
